Job Description:

The Systems Engineer will be part of a team whose role is to design and manage complex systems over their life cycles. The Systems Engineer is responsible for design, development, integration and implementation of MBSE solutions for intricate systems. The Systems Engineer is responsible for operational, architectural, and requirements research, analysis, and documentation of U.S. Department of Defense systems. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts will be conducted according to the UML, SysML, and the Unified Profile for DoDAF / MODAF (UPDM) modeling standards.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform initial system analysis, including problem analysis, requirements gathering and development
  2. Perform data gathering and data analysis
  3. Support MBSE model integration efforts
  4. Assist in the design and development of SysML architecture data models including architecture, operational, and interface diagram development, requirements analysis and requirements verification
  5. Develop software scripts to create custom model output products and perform dynamic model analysis
  6. Develop presentations for internal and customer design reviews
  7. Provide technical assistance to inquiries from internal and external customers
  8. Participate in internal meetings and designated customer meetings
  9. Seek guidance from senior staff to plan and accomplish project goals
  10. Able to carry out tasks efficiently and effectively

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, cybersecurity, networking, or computer science related degree.
  • In lieu of a degree, 2 years of related work experience
  • 0 to 2 year of prior work specific to systems engineering or military technical / engineering systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at a level that is appropriate to the contract(s) supportedĀ

  4. Academic understanding of a well-written requirement
  5. Academic understanding of SysML Use Cases, Sequence and Activity Flow Diagrams
  6. Academic understanding of SysML architecture constructs and system modeling techniques
  7. Academic understanding of interface modeling
  8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications and Project
  9. Basic understanding of IT networking
  10. Strong written and verbal communications skills
  11. Plans daily activities
  12. Ability to complete projects with specific direction or within a group of peers
  13. Must be able to take initiative, learn quickly and adapt to shifting priorities
  14. Self-starting/motivating


Must possess or achieve one of the following certifications within the first year of this position:

  • Systems Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Agile/Scrum
  • MBSE
  • SysML
  • UPDM
  • RHEL
  • JRuby
